Shabbat Shalom, y’all!

We’re in the book of Genesis (Bereshit) reading Noach.

+++++ There was ++++ evening and morning

test everything, hold tight to what is good – 1 Thessalonians 5:21

֍ ֍ ֍  What is this Torah Portion About?

The parashah, Noach, tells the stories of the Flood and Noah’s Ark then it tells us of Noah planting a vineyard and subsequently drinking wine from that vineyard and getting drunk. This leads to his son, Cham, looking upon the nakedness of his father and then laughing about it to his brothers, thus leading to the cursing of Canaan. After this, it tells us of the events around the Tower of Babel. (<<— edited from wikipedia)

֍ ֍ ֍  Where Are We in Our Studies?

The Book of Genesis, from the Latin Vulgate, in turn, borrowed or transliterated from the Greek word, γένεσις, meaning “Coming into Being”; the word, in Biblical Hebrew: בְּרֵאשִׁית, romanized: Bərēʾšīṯ, “In [the] beginning”) NOTE: Yahweh is NOT Yah’s name. At best it is a scholar’s guess and a bad one at that. His real name is Yehovah.

Affliction of the Messiah

What do we do with the Anti-Missionary claim that the Messiah does not suffer like Israel suffers and that Isaiah 53 is not about the Messiah? Simple, we test it.

NOTE: For Older Testament passages I’ve become rather interested in reading them in the Septuagint. I know some passages are different there comparably, but the Septuagint seems to have more depth in understanding than the Bibles translated using the Masoretic text created in about 600-1000 A.D.

This is compared to the origins of the Septuagint.

The Septuagint is the very first translation of the Hebrew Bible from Hebrew to another language, Greek. It’s believed that it was probably translated as early as the third century BC. The Septuagint translation of the Hebrew Bible into Greek is traditionally dated to the reign of Ptolemy II Philadelphus of Egypt (285-246 BC).
