In Vayakhel (Exodus 35:1–38:20), we explore the significance of the Sabbath and the principle of freewill offerings for the construction of the Tabernacle. Moses gathered the entire nation of Israel, emphasizing the divine command to work six days and rest on the seventh, highlighting that Sabbath rest holds meaning only when preceded by diligent work. This portion teaches the value of giving from the heart—whether through gold, silver, talents, or labor—which fosters unity, ownership, and purpose among the community. Believers today are called to serve God wholeheartedly, using their gifts for His glory.

NOTE: For Older Testament passages, I’ve become interested in reading them in the Septuagint.

I know some passages are different there comparably, but the Septuagint seems to have more depth in understanding than the Bibles translated using the Masoretic text created in about 600-1000 A.D.

This is compared to the origins of the Septuagint.

The Septuagint is the very first translation of the Hebrew Bible from Hebrew to another language, Greek. It’s believed that it was probably translated as early as the third century BC.

The Septuagint translation of the Hebrew Bible into Greek is traditionally dated to the reign of Ptolemy II Philadelphus of Egypt (285-246 BC).
